Since there are some really good fan-made trailers and videos out there I thought it might be fun to post a few every Friday. If you have created something or know of something good and would like to see it shared, please let me know at admin@rememberme-film.com. I will pick one or two each week to post.

Please watch the spoilers. I won't post any posters with spoilers and if I post a video with a spoiler, it wil be labeled as such. I want everyone to have the option of remaining spoiler free!

Filmmaker Spotlight Jenny Lumet

“I always tell my friends and family not to say anything funny or I’ll steal it. They know I’m a writer.”

Jenny Lumet didn’t start as a screenwriter; her first foray into the film business was as an actor. The daughter of filmmaker Sidney Lumet and journalist Gail Lumet Buckley and the granddaughter of singer Lena Horne, Jenny’s first role was in the film adaptation of Deathtrap (1982). In 1990, she was cast the film Q & A as Nancy Bosch, the wife of a drug kingpin who encounters her old lover, an assistant DA who is trying to get her husband to help him in a police corruption case. She said of her role, that she remembered her reviews were pretty good. "It wasn't a flat-out disaster by any means, but I just couldn't get another job." She also had parts in Running on Empty (1988), Tougher than Leather (1988), Assassination (1994) and Dodgeball (1995).

Jenny started writing screenplays 14 years ago when she was pregnant with her first child. Prior to writing Rachel Getting Married, she had written a few other screenplays, but wasn’t happy with them. As far as a formal training in writing, she once took a 3 day seminar. She also said that she learned by writing screenplays and having people not produce them.

She was finally able to have a screenplay made into a film. Rachel Getting Married is about the underlying family dynamics that occur when a junkie sister (Anne Hathaway) is released from another rehab program in order to make it home for her sister’s (Rosemarie DeWitt) wedding. Kym is a disruptive force and family issues that have been simmering for a long time come to a boil.

The interesting and compelling characters were built using bits and pieces from family, friends and acquaintances. Jenny was very excited to be working with director, Jonathan Demme and credits him for his part in making the film far better than she imagined. For her work on this film, Jenny won Best Screenplay from the New York Film Critics Circle, the Toronto Film Critics Association, and the Washington DC Area Film Critics Association. She also won the Image Award for Outstanding Writing in a Motion Picture.

Recently, Jenny worked on re-writing the Will Fetter’s script Memoirs. Now known as Remember Me, the film is set to open on February 12, 2010 and stars Robert Pattinson, Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper and Emilie de Ravin. Rob spoke highly of the script and of Jenny in a recent interview with Risky Business. He said “It's very natural and the characters are incredibly real and well scripted. It's one of the few scripts I've read where you finish and realize you didn't really want it to end. I have no qualms in saying that (writer) Jenny (Lumet) is a genius.”

Jenny is currently working on a screenplay entitled This Strange Thing Called Prom. It is the story of a group of students from the Brooklyn International High School who are trying to organize a prom for the first time in the school’s history. This story is based on an article found in the New York Times, which tracked the efforts of the immigrant students planning their prom. This film is currently in development with a projected release date in 2011. She is also involved in a film project with Jason Reitman currently called See Also: Sambo.

She has also been busy for the last eight years teaching drama at her son’s school. The school is a progressive, independent school that is short on money, so she started the drama program herself. She had to take some time off for the filming of Rachel Getting Married, but is hoping to return.

Cast Spotlight Pierce Brosnan Part 1

“When I found acting, or when acting found me, it was a liberation. It was a stepping stone into another life, away from a life that I had, and acting was something I was good at, something which was appreciated. That was a great satisfaction in my life.”

While most are most familiar with Pierce’s role as the legendary secret agent, James Bond, he has played other very memorable roles on stage and on both the small and large screen.

Pierce was born in Navan, County Meath, Ireland on May 16, 1953. At the age of 11, he moved to London to be with his mother, who had moved there much earlier, and her new husband. He was enrolled in the Elliot School in Putney, West London where he excelled in art and English. At the age of 16, Pierce left school and started training as a commercial artist in a photography studio while attending Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. Deciding that he wanted to pursue acting, Pierce enrolled in the Drama Centre of London where he studied theater. Graduating in 1976, he took the position of acting assistant stage manager at York’s Royal Theatre.

His professional acting debut was in the production of Wait Until Dark. His performance caught the eye of Tennessee Williams who cast him in the role of McCabe in his play, The Red Devil Battery Sign. During the next few years, he performed in the productions of Noel Coward’s Semi Monde, The Maid’s Tragedy, Painter’s Palace of Pleasure, No Orchids for Mrs. Blandish, and most importantly, Franco Zeffirella’s Filumena. Filumena, a London Lyric Theatre Production, ran for a year and a half. Based on his performance, he was cast in the BBC’s Murphy’s Stroke as a race-horse trainer. It was Pierce’s first foray on the small screen. Later that year, he appeared in his first film, a 26 minute short film Resting Rough.

A year later in 1980, Pierce landed his first full length big screen movie role, a non-speaking part in the thriller Long Good Friday. He also appeared in the Agatha Christie’s The Mirror Crack’d. But the good news for Pierce was that his performance in Murphy’s Stroke was seen by a group of American producers who were casting for the US TV mini-series The Manions of America, which followed two Philadelphia families, one English and one Irish, through the years. The mini-series was very successful in the United States and it also served to introduce Pierce to the American public.

Now was the time for him to check out the options in Los Angeles. Pierce and his wife took a 2 week trip to LA so that he could to do some auditions. The very first audition that he did was for the NBC series Remington Steele. He got the part, but had to wait six months for filming to start. During that period, he returned to London and played the role of first husband Robert Gould Shaw, in the Masterpiece Theater min-series Nancy Astor. (Lady Astor was the first woman to sit in Parliament). When the series finally made it to American TV in 1984, Pierce would be nominated for the first time for a Golden Globe.

Finally in 1982, Remington Steele began filming. Originally Pierce’s character, Steele was to be a mysterious partner who would only be on screen for a few minutes each episode, but due to his ever increasing popularity, his role became more and more prominent. Remington Steele lasted for five seasons, but when its run had finished, Pierce was still busy filming both feature films and TV films. During the next seven years he would star in a wide variety of projects. His TV work included the TV mini series Noble House (1988) where he played tai-pan of the trade corporation or “house” and Around the World in 80 Days (1989) where he played Phileas Fogg the man who travels around the world. His TV films include the HBO film, The Heist (1989) where he plays a framed con-man getting his revenge and the thriller Murder 101 (1991), where he plays an author framed for murder. During this time he also appeared in such TV films as Victim of Love (1991), Death Train (1993), The Broken Chair (1993), Don’t Talk to Strangers (1994) and Night Watch (1995).

Among his feature work at that time, was the thriller The Fourth Protocol (1987) where he played a KGB agent, the British action thriller Taffin (1988) in which he plays a tough Irish debt collector who tries to save the town, the adventure thriller The Deceivers, where he played a British tax collector who works to solve a series of murders, the horror thriller The Lawnmower Man (1992), where he plays the scientist whose VR experiment to enhance intelligence goes awry. In 1993, he starred in the comedy Mrs. Doubtfire along with Robin Williams and Sally Field, playing Field’s jerk boyfriend. His other films during this time include Mister Johnson (1990), Live Wire (1992), Entangled (1993) and Love Affair (1994).

Cast Spotlight Tate Ellington Part 2

Back in June when Remember Me first started filming, I wrote a spotlight on Tate which detailed some of his work to date. But reading about roles doesn't really give one a feel about an actor. Wondering what we might expect from Tate, I searched through the internet and came upon a couple of clips and a trailer that featured Tate in his role of Oliver in The Elephant King.

Oliver is described by viewers of the film as a quiet, retiring, semi-depressed man child who has been sent to Thailand by his parents to bring home his wayward brother. His performance was described as "absolutely amazing, leaving a memorable impression that makes you want to see him in more films in the future."

So take a look and get a little taste of what Tate can bring to the screen.

Remember Me FAQs

There are some very slight spoilers at the end here, but nothing that hasn't been discussed in Summit's press releases and it is nothing that is really too plot related.


1. Is this movie based on a book?
No. It is based on an orginial screenplay by Will Fetters that was reworked by Jenny Lumet. It has nothing to do with a novel by Sophie Kinsella, Melvyn Bragg, or Nicholas Sparks.

2. When will this film be released?
It is scheduled to be released on February 12, 2010 in the US.

3. What will it be rated?
It isn't know yet, but based on some of the language and sexuality in the script, it is suspected it will be given an R rating in the US. As soon as it is known, it will be posted.

4. Are Rob/Pierce/Emilie using their native or American accents?
Rob has mentioned in interviews that he will be using an American accent in this movie. The surname for the character was supposedly changed from Roth to Hawkins, and some people speculate that this may have enabled Pierce to use his native accent, but it is not known for certain.

5. Do you know where they are filming and when does the filming end?
Filming took place in the New York City area, but most, if not all of the filming has been completed. Some of the principle actors have already finished, including Rob, who is currently in Vancouver on the set of Eclipse.

6. What has changed from the original script?
Based in information gleened from Summit's press releases, it is known that Michael's death has been changed to a suicide. And as a child, Ally witnessed her mother's murder. Other than that, it has been stated that most of the changes were dialog based.
