Remember Me Discussion Group

When we first see grown-up Ally and Neil together, in their home, hurrying breakfast before they head out for the day, Ally puts what looks like a prescription medication in her Dad's coffee mug. What kind of condition do you think Neil has? Also, does Ally 'mother' him?

I'm guessing it's a high blood pressure medication. All that stress. And it looks like it's part of their normal routine, that Ally does it every day for him as a matter of course.
Funny, these two seem to be in a rut of symbiotic behaviour, with Neil being the needy one. I don't imagine dating is easy for a cop, but if he gave Ally some indication that he would be okay, like going on a few dates and enjoying some sort of social life of his own, Ally wouldn't feel so much under his microscope when she takes steps toward independence. Neil wouldn't even go on the barbecue with Leo, even though he knew Ally was all right, and he snapped at Leo for pushing it a little. It seems that little interaction is also something that has been repeated many times. Leo seems resigned and not surprised when Neil shuts him down.

Guess I thought it was just a sugar substitute pill.

I assumed that it was aspirin. The bottle looks like it and I assumed it was because coffee can hide the bitterness. He would need it to thin his blood, lowering his risk of heart attack.

They depend on each other because they are isolated.
