Charles told such a thing to Tyler because he is a father and sometimes parents say things that they do not intend to say but they say. Charles is a man who thought he could control every detail of his career, his life and family but the death of Michael changed everything. He is scared of being close of his children again. Of course he is unfair with Tyler but his fear blinds him.
