The chemistry between these two is amazing, so natural; I think Emilie was perfect for the part of Ally. In my opinion, they are one of the best on-screen couples I've seen so far this year. Can't say enough good things about this movie! :)
Yes, Heidi, I too think they were good together. I don't know whether Tyler, with this line, is already angling for same-night sex, or whether he, intrigued with her, just wants more time with her.
But he is very vulnerable, the whole taxi sequence, where he tries to kiss her and she deflects his advance, only to kiss him chastely a moment later, her choice. When they stand by the taxi during this exchange Tyler is brimming with vulnerability; his woundedness actually seems like a condition, a state of being, which he accepts as the way things are.
She's taken him down a notch by taking control of the seduction and he surrenders to it.
Tyler and Ally`s first meeting. One thing that surprised me and pleased was seeing a normal meeting, common, without any glamour. I loved the way how Tyler "won" the teddy bear at the amusement park and gave it to Ally. Evidently Tyler should like to stay the night with Ally but she resisted. Even so she gave him a goodnight kiss very sexy. It was the beginning of a beautiful and unforgetable relationship.
@jessegirl and @LTavares2010-Agree with you both. I think she was falling for him on their first date, but she didn't let him know it right away. You could tell he was totally into her, trying to win her over, but she was the really the one in control playing hard to get. Even though the relationship developed rather quickly (I understand they can't take too long for a two-hour movie), the way it started added a more realistic aspect to the relationship.
@jessegirl, - good point, I think that he's actually intrigued with her since the dessert episode and he actually wants to spend more time with her. I like it however how he tries to show he's in control - the slightly cocky attitude, the way he turns on his heels and walks backwards when he says these lines - when he's actually not that much in control. There's something cute and lame about it. He's really vulnerable, as you say, and that shows later when he attemps to kiss her - he's almost shy, and he respects her decision when she says no. But he's a little miffed althoguh he tries to hide it joking. Everything is so simple and yet so subtle, and feels so real..
I don't think this was same ole Tyler trying for the one night stand. I think he crossed that line in their first encounter when he replied that he was undecided about everything. This line was in earnest...
He was off kilter...edgy almost yet she was calm and confident. I get the impression that this was a new occurrence for Tyler...that he usually controlled the relationship if you could call a one night stand a relationship. I think he was on unfamiliar ground.

Exactly what you say and what we think: It 'feels so real'. That's one of the great things about this film. It all feels so real, so natural.
