I loved that scene, the intimacy between the two, the way you could see their feelings or each other were beginning to change and grow... and how Tyler felt terrible when she started to speak about her father, you could see him how uneasy he began to look as he started to understand how his lie was trapping him. It was a beautiful, tense, scene.
And then Tyler said: “What’s going on right now?” Okay, before I say anything else I have to come out with it. How does Rob do that? That thing with his voice? Frankly, I still don’t know what the f*ck Tyler meant—someone enlighten me—because my analytical powers just evaporate when they collide with that voice. Stop it, Rob, stop it right now. You should be trapped, because no female could get out of your voice-trap if she tried. Nemesis.

ITA Rum. Beautiful scene! when I saw it I felt sad imagining the moment that she would discover about his lie or omission. Tyler omitted that he knew Neil and omitted about the plan of Aidan. Ally left home because she fought with her father because of Tyler and yet he still remained silent but now that his feelings grew stronger in relation to her, feeling her reciprocity and how she is linked to her father, Tyler begins to feel bad. A new feeling for him when refers to someone else other than Michael or Caroline. The will to live this new reality of being able to love and be loved in a different way that he is accustomed, makes him hesitating to tell the truth to Ally. Rob and Emilie make this scene so emotional and loving. Rob plays Tyler in a manner so true, so natural, that in a gesture, in a glance he gives, he shares with me his fears, his weaknesses and his love.
Yes, @LTavares, so true, and I felt sad for Tyler too when I saw how his lie and his omission would eventually turn against him and make him lose this newborn love. @jesse, yes sure it's difficult to concentrate when Rob speaks with that particular tone of voice.. still, I love the way you could understand all his hints in that short sentence, see a lot about him and his take on life in these few words: how uncertain he is about everything, how he doesn't understand life. He's so full of doubts, constantly alternating between light and shadow, and yet in this scene he is wavering, and he knows it. He's at a tipping point because of Ally's new presence, but everything is tainted with his lie. His question hint at so many different meanings - it's about them and their new relationship, about life, about his search for meaning... everything is so tangled. At least this is how I see it.
Yeah, Rum, I’m sure you’re right. Thanks. And LTavares, it’s so sad and true that Tyler has put himself into this impossible situation, and the noose is tightening the closer he gets to Ally.
